2025 AWARD RECIPIENTS

Albert Baikie Memorial Medal 



Dr Jasmine Singh was awarded the Albert Baikie Memorial Medal at Blood 2025 following her presentation titled "Longitudinal assessment of the expansion of clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP)".

Originally from Perth, Dr Jasmine Singh has completed her advanced haematology training in Victoria and is now working as a haematologist at Monash Health and Australian Clinical Labs. She has combined her passion for haematology and genetics in her PhD exploring clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) within the ASPirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly (ASPREE) cohort.

Carl de Gruchy Orator

The 2025 Carl de Gruchy Oration: Should haematologists sell their microscopes on eBay? was delivered by A/Prof Surender Juneja in Perth on Tuesday 28th October.

A/Prof Surender Juneja is a consultant haematopathologist at the Peter MacCallum/ Royal Melbourne Hospitals and an associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. After completing his training in Delhi, he spent time as a Fellow at the Henri Mendor Hospital in Paris before arriving in Australia in 1983. As a haematopathologist for 42 years, Surender has seen the modernisation of the lab from morphology to flow to advanced molecular techniques. During that time, he has mentored and taught hundreds of trainees, been a long-term college examiner, had a critical role with the RCPA QAP, been an author on more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and held countless jobs on college committees. Surender has been an important figure in establishing pathology standards and protocols in Australian haematopathology.
