Haematology Fellow in Clinical Trials, Perth

15 Oct 2024 10:01 AM | Anonymous

Starting February 2025 for 6 months or 1 year

A position is available at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) for a Fellow in Clinical Trials. Applicants must have completed part 1 FRACP. The position is suitable for Advanced Trainees in Haematology who are completing joint RCPA/RACP training and wish to obtain further expertise in the organisation and management of clinical trials.

The department is involved with clinical trials across the spectrum of haematology malignancies with a focus on acute myeloid leukaemia, myeloma and lymphoma.

Cell and Tissue Therapies of Western Australia (CTTWA) is a facility on site at RPH responsible for stem cell processing for autologous stem cell transplants and the development of cellular therapies. The haematology department works closely with CTTWA which is currently running trials assessing the immunomodulatory effects of mesenchymal stem cells in myelodysplasia, inflammatory bowel disease and organ transplant rejection.

CTTWA is also actively involved with a CAR-T cell therapy developmental program using autologous and “off the shelf” allogeneic CAR-T cells.

The role of the clinical trial fellow is to liaise with Consultant Haematologists and the clinical trial unit in the identification of patients suitable for enrolment in clinical trials through outpatient and inpatient admissions.

The fellow will coordinate and undertake where appropriate the investigations eg bone marrow biopsies and overall management of patients in the clinical trial programs run by the department.

Clinical responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care principally of patients enrolled in clinical trials.

There is no requirement for participation in after hours on call rosters.

Research projects that enhance the clinical trial activities are encouraged.

Please forward an expression of interest and a CV as soon as possible with the names and contact details (email and telephone number) of 2 referees to:
