Ballarat Cancer Care and Haematology (BCCH) is looking for an enthusiastic haematologist to join the team. At BCCH, we are focussed on building a dedicated and exciting group of Oncologists and Haematologists committed to looking after patients with cancer and blood disorders. We currently have two haematologists and four medical oncologists in our team.

Haematology service within Ballarat is growing with our catchment encompassing Melton/Bacchus Marsh up to the Wimmera. We envisage potentially 1-2 days per week of work at the start, with combination of outpatient clinics/treatment and/or inpatient/consultative services. We look after patients with both benign and malignant haematological conditions. Our practice does outreach clinics to Ararat.

Our newly renovated room is located in the St John of God (SJOG) Campus with easy accessibility to both SJOG hospital and Ballarat Base hospital. The clinic room is staffed five days a week, providing full administrative services. We also have treatment room for simple infusions and pathology on site. Chemotherapy is delivered through Anam Cara chemo day unit at SJOG hospital.

We work closely with the Ballarat Base Hospital and actively participate in Morphology meetings and Multidisciplinary meetings locally, as well as via teleconferencing to metropolitan sites. We also work closely withhaematology departments at tertiary centres in Melbourne to ensure patients will have access to the best treatment options.  We have excellent collaboration with Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) and Ballarat Hospice.

We are open to considering the options of visiting specialists, but will be delighted of the prospect of having a local associate. Ballarat is a vibrant regional hub offering easy access to Melbourne, the greater Grampians region and surf coast shire beaches. With a growing population, good housing,, outstanding schools, restaurants and vibrant sporting and arts communities, Ballarat is indeed an enviable location for your next career move or progression.
