Position Description: Clinical Trials Fellow – Mid North Coast – 2025
We are looking for an early career haematologist with an interest in clinical trials!
Expressions of interest open until end July
The Region
Coffs Harbour is a large regional town on the New South Wales Mid-North Coast situated almost equidistant from Sydney and Brisbane. Coffs Harbour itself has a population of ~75,000 people but the region encompasses several smaller towns including Bellingen, Dorrigo and Woolgoolga. The hospital has a catchment of ~250,000 people.
The Coffs Harbour Haematology unit comprises four full-time joint laboratory-clinical haematologists (Dr. Browne, Dr. Jama, Dr. Crassini and Dr. Payne). There is an on-site PET scanner, apheresis machine and radiation oncology service.
The Mid North Coast is a stunning area of Australia including national parks, beautiful rivers, waterfalls, beaches and amazing, uncrowded surf.
The Role
Coffs Harbour, as with most regional areas, is poorly served in terms of clinical trials. Coffs Harbour has an established trials team, but its focus has been on oncology trials. We are growing our portfolio of haematology clinical trials and as part of this growth (and with the support of the ALLG) we are entering into a number of satellite site arrangements both with other regional centres and with metropolitan hospitals.
The Clinical Trials Fellow would support the establishment and operation of satellite trial networks between Coffs/Port (HD12), Coffs/Port/Orange (Polar-Bear) and Coffs/RNSH (Epcore Sandwich). They would also oversee other Coffs Harbour only trials such as ELEMENT, Mahogany and CLL08.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the role, please contact Dr. Kyle Crassini on k.crassini@health.nsw.gov.au
