ALBURY WODONGA

Border Medical Oncology and Haematology (BMOH) is a thriving and well-organised medical oncology & haematology practice based in Albury-Wodonga. We are seeking a second Haematologist to join our practice on a full time basis.

The practice sees both public and private patients across a broad range of tumour types. We service a regional population of approximately 250,000 people and provide outreach clinics to Wangaratta and Deniliquin. We are based in the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer and Wellness Centre (AWRCC) , which includes state of the art day ward, inpatient wards and radiotherapy department. The centre is located on the Albury campus of Albury Wodonga Health.

We have an established, award winning clinical research department allowing our patients access to a broad range of clinical trials. Our research unit was the recipient of  an $18.5 million over 5 years from the Medical Research Future Fund Grant in collaboration with the regional Trials Network Victoria to improve outcomes in cancer patients across regional Victoria

Multidisciplinary clinics are established for common malignancies as well as teleconferencing and mentoring links with metropolitan centres for the co-management of less common tumours. Albury Wodonga Health and the AWRCC is an associate site of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre enabling clinical, research and educational partnerships

Haematology consists of non-malignant and malignant haematology with well-established day chemotherapy and inpatient facilities to support growing needs. There is an advanced trainee in haematology, and close links with the combined haematology service at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to become an associate of the Border Medical Oncology and Haematology practice and a Visiting Medical Officer at the Border Cancer Hospital and Albury Wodonga Health. Opportunities exist for a conjoint appointment with the University of NSW rural medical school.

Requirements

Essential:

• FRACP (Haematology) Completion of advanced training in Haematology.

• Specialist registration in adult medicine (Physician) and Haematology with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA)

• Demonstrated capacity in the efficient and effective day-to-day management of haematology patients and a commitment to best practice care, including a commitment to clinical research.

• Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.

• Commitment to a multidisciplinary approach to patient management.
