Haematology Fellow - Austin

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced  Research Fellow  to join our  Cancer Clinical Trials Centre  in 2023.

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. 

Cancer Clinical Trials 

The Cancer Clinical Trials Centre (CCTC) is part of the Austin Health Cancer Services conducting a wide variety of cancer clinical trials nationally and internationally and has a reputation for excellence.  The CCTC has expertise in managing studies from Phase I to Phase 3, and participates in a mix of investigator-initiated research, Collaborative Group studies and Pharmaceutical Company sponsored clinical trials.  CCTC comprises a team of full time and part time Study Co-ordinators (Registered Nurses), Clinical Research Administration Assistants, Clinical Research Fellows, Ethics Submission Co-ordinators, Data Managers and a Finance Officer.   

The study coordinators are organised into teams; Team 1 (Lung & Melanoma), Team 2 (Gastrointestinal & Breast), Team 3 (Head / Neck & Genitourinary), Team 4 (Haematology) and Team 5 (Phase 1).  Each team has a Clinical Team Lead and a Clinical Research Administration Assistant.  The atmosphere within the CCTC is energetic, friendly and cohesive, with a strong teamwork ethic amongst all members and regular meetings with Investigators to discuss study management issues.  

The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre has been established at the Austin Health to provide a holistic approach to cancer treatment and care, wellness and research within a state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer centre.  The Cancer Centre is responsible for inpatient medical oncology and clinical haematology, ambulatory medical oncology and clinical haematology, palliative medicine and radiation oncology. The Cancer Clinical Trials Centre has over 200 trials and is a vibrant and growing unit.  Incorporated within the ONJ Centre are strong undergraduate and post graduate teaching programs. 

Applications are sought from trainees or Clinical Haematologists for the Cancer Clinical Trials Research Fellow position at Austin Health   This position will commence February 2023 for a period of at least 12 months.  The position is suitable for a third-year trainee or junior consultant.
