Consultant Haematopathologist: Middlemore Hospital New Zealand

23 Mar 2021 3:38 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) is one of the largest providers of primary, secondary and tertiary health care in Australasia.  We invest in growing our community and primary care services that integrate with secondary and tertiary care. We aim to ensure that the health system enables our communities to stay well, recover and live healthy lives – together.

Middlemore Hospital (1000-beds), the main hospital for CM Health is a teaching hospital accredited to the University of Auckland. We provide medical and surgical care to a rapidly growing population of approximately 530,000 people. The Haematology department provides diagnostics & clinical support services for patients with the full range of haematological disorders and has an in-patient ward, chemotherapy day ward, outpatient and thrombosis clinics, the haematology laboratory and blood bank services, all located on-site.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Haematopathologist to join our existing team of 6 haematologists.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all haematological diagnostic services within the department, including coagulation, peripheral blood and bone marrow reporting, quality assurance activities, and clinical liaison. The ability to integrate immunohistochemical, cytogenetic, FISH and molecular genetic results with morphologic findings is essential.  Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is a key component to this role and there is the opportunity to combine with outpatient haematology clinics for suitably trained applicants.

Applicants should ideally be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent, and eligible for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Although experience in clinical haematology and pathology is preferred, recently qualified graduates will be considered.

You will have a dedicated recruitment consultant to support you through the recruitment, council registration and relocation process. Successful candidates will be eligible for a relocation package.
